Seeds are the first and last stage of a plant's life. Join Angel Beyde, Organic Master Gardener, in our Black Oak Savannah restoration garden to learn how seeds represent freedom, equity and food sovereignty, for human and animal communities. We will learn how to sustainably harvest seeds in the larger context of a regenerative and reciprocal relationship to the earth. Air is Life
1:00 PM
Air moves through us and all around us as wind, cloud and mist. Wind is constant change. Wind moves (the) Maple trees bringing flow to the sap. Wind carries Feathers from beings who see us from the greater perspective of sky. Leaves, thoughts, and words are carried on the wind as the seasons change and people huddle together to form loving community. Winds interact with and support other elemental energies. Winds form languages, shape tree branches; winds of change push us to live in a good way - in universal 'right relations'. As we survive the pandemic we think about breath as stigmatized and carrying the virus. We have a hard time taking a breath or hearing each other's words. We need to be Free to Breathe. Join Taiaiako'n Historical Preservation and the High Park Nature Centre as we liberate our breath with cultural sharings and teachings from the natural world. Many of us have been making and decorating our own masks and artists are picking up on this social phenomenon. Working creatively with masks at the Air is Life event will be part of our activation/ceremony. Please bring a mask for re-purposing, doodads, thread, sequins and other delights to fashion and re-create beautiful masks that promote a beautiful reclaiming of the breath. We will supply Cedar Tea and natural art supplies. Thank you to TD Park People Grants for resourcing this event.

BEWARE THE PARASITES
1:30 PM
Parasites! When we think of parasites, we may think of scary microscopic critters or blood-sucking worms – but what else in nature is considered a “parasite”? Did you know that cowbirds are parasites of other birds? Or that certain wildflowers are considered parasitic to other plants? There are many symbiotic relationships that exist between organisms in nature, all of which can be considered good or bad, depending on which perspective you look at. Join us as we explore the curious world of parasitism, mutualism, and commensalism!
